| How I Was Named | An AKC Registered Field Golden, my original “owners” had the surname “Jackson”. I was named after the character: Lucas “Luke” Jackson from the super awesome movie, Cool Hand Luke, starring Paul Newman. In the movie, Luke Jackson is a World War II veteran who is sentenced to a chain gang in Florida for drunkenly beheading several parking meters. Luke is a nonconformist who defies authority, escapes from prison, and gains respect from the other prisoners. Let this be a lesson… Be Careful What You Name Your Pups! 😂 |

| Back Story | Luke was born within four days of a month before Comet. He Came into my life at the age of 8.5, within a month of my having lost her very suddenly and tragically. It didn’t take long for me to realize I couldn’t live alone, and I was researching accredited breeders, available litters and puppies in rescue. Reeling from a long and deep string of losses, I was determined to find a new life with a young puppy. And then I laid eyes on Luke. He had been in the care of Fuzzy Friends Rescue in Waco for nine months, prior to making his recent way to Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston. His previous life was fraught with loss, as was mine. Luke filled my heart immediately. He gave me the opportunity to honor Comet by experiencing and fulfilling her Golden Years… and I was able to devote every ounce of my being to… The Second Life of Luke. |
